COURSE SUMMARY:

A comprehensive and in-depth examination of radiation fundamentals, including radiation theory and recognizing various sources of radiation. The course covers proper detection, handling, and measurement techniques while imparting tangible awareness of dose limits and models, the significance of ALARA, emergency response, workers’ rights, maintenance, gauge, and source construction. The educator covers program regulations and reporting requirements including essential legal documentation. Course further reviews national and local DOT requirements. Instructor administers a detailed hands-on. Practical exercise covering proven survey techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments for hands-on study and review.

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATION:

Having attended this course and passing a final exam, the student will receive a certificate indicating that the participant successfully completed a certified and comprehensive course study for Radiation Safety Officer.

Students are encouraged to take a refresher course every 3 years.
